I have been teaching for 23 years and cannot imagine being anything other than an
educator. My teaching career began at Mount Sacred Heart Catholic School. As a 3rd and 5th grade teacher, I taught all academic subjects in addition to religion, art and music for five years. After five great years, I applied at Harlandale ISD and was hired as a 6th and 8th grade Reading teacher at Leal Middle School. During my two years at Leal, I was also given the responsibility of Reading and Grade Level Chair. Because of my great success at Leal, I was asked to become part of the winning team of Carroll Bell Elementary. I have been part of the Carroll Bell Family for 16 years. Most of my years at Carroll Bell have been as a Reading Coach. I have also been a 4th and 5th grade teacher as well. Although I loved being a Reading Coach, my greatest joy is being a classroom teacher. In this capacity, I am able to work closely with my students and help them become inquisitive lifelong learners. I am also a Teacher Mentor, Lead Reading Teacher, Language Arts Chair, Campus PERC and District PERC member. Whew, that's a lot of hats to wear, but I love it!!!
